The Council of Europe introduced an European Language Portfolio (ELP) to support and give recognition to language learning and intercultural experiences at all levels.
Central part in the European Language Portfolio take language skills which include listening, reading, spoken interaction, spoken production and writing.
We offer you a simple self-assessment grid for language skills from the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Use this table to assess the language level of the languages that you have some competence in. If you are in possession of language certificates or diplomas, some of them state the language level that you use (A1-C2). You can see the link between the language levels and the exams in English in the Cambridge English exams example.
