In cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science and the Bureau for Development of Education, we are working with all the Macedonian universities that train English language teachers. The aim is to create a support system for continuing professional development of English language teachers that would be in line with the legal requirements and refer to the continuing professional development of the teaching cadre in the Republic of Macedonia.
In September 2015 we brought together deans, vice-deans, heads of English departments and university professors from the University Ss Cyril and Methodius, University Goce Delcev from Stip, South East European University, State University of Tetovo, University St Clement of Ohrid from Bitola, the FON University, the International Balkan University and University American College Skopje for joint coordination.
University representatives will now focus on the core competences for teachers, the possibilities for career development and the National qualifications framework. At the beginning of the process, the participants learned about the teaching competences and the professional development in the UK, shared by our UK consultant, Tim Phillips from the British Council in Manchester.
Read the interview with Tim Phillips about the importance of the teaching competences, the continuing professional development system in the UK and how the British Council assists teachers worldwide in their professional development
